People with disabilities are especially vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They experience two key categories of risk,
- increased risk of contracting COVID-19 due to barriers in implementing various hygiene measures (i.e., accessing sink, rubbing hands together), and greater difficulty practicing social distancing
- increased risk of developing a severe case due to pre-existing health conditions and entrenched barriers to accessing health care.

Without an appropriate wheelchair or assistive product, this risk only increases.
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 70 million people worldwide need a wheelchair for basic mobility and as many as 95% of them do not have one.
